Holistic Health current Logo

Ensō (円相) is a Japanese word meaning "circle" and a concept strongly associated with Zen. Ensō is one of the most common subjects of Japanese calligraphy even though it is a symbol and not a character. It symbolizes enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and the void; it can also symbolize the Japanese aesthetic itself. As an "expression of the moment" it is often considered a form of minimalist expressionist art.

My Bio/Profile/Intro

Fun facts-
Majors:
B.A. Industrial Arts conc. on Vis. Comm. and B.S. Business Administration conc. on Marketing.

Interests:
Art, Health, Sports, Kids, Music, Economics, History, Comedy. (A few out of many)

Inspirations:
I use to be inspired by people that had very high positions or fancy titles next to their names because I would wonder what it would take to get where they were. My inspiration has changed to what people do with those titles. Do they give back? How do they change/help others? I aspire to work really hard and love what I do along with making sure that I share my passions with others.

Influences:
My parents have influenced me a lot! The good, the bad, with everything. Parenting is definitely not an easy thing and I'm sure it hasn't been for them with me, but they have taught me the meaning of hard work and shooting for the stars.

Visions:
I don't have any in particular. I just want to give myself OPPORTUNITIES. Opportunities to meet new people, learn new things, and do great things.

What is the Holistic Health Program at SF state

Certificate Education & Training Classes:
Alternative Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Complementary Medicine, Wellness, Healing

Over 83 million Americans are currently using some form of alternative health therapies, and that number is growing annually. People want to feel better. They want to manage stress, increase energy, live naturally, and be healthier, so this growing trend comes as no surprise. Consumers and professionals alike are rapidly embracing more holistic approaches to wellness.

The Institute for Holistic Health Studies (IHHS) at San Francisco State University offers a comprehensive program in this important area. For over 27 years IHHS has approached health and healing from a holistic perspective, seeking to promote the well being of the whole person—thought, feeling, behavior, body, spirit, and environment.

Although our curriculum is diverse, the general goal of all our holistic health classes is the same: encouraging the individual toward increased self-awareness, a greater capacity for self-regulation, and an improved ability to generalize these understandings to all aspects of life, be that improved health, more meaningful work, deeper relationships, or transcendence.
